Lockdown is over now.
This feels
Significant.
Freedom I guess, for some
of us, those of us who aren’t
still trapped
In prisons
In high rises
In aged care
In marriages
But social expectations
weigh heavy and
possibilities are endless.
Too endless, so I stay home.
Still.
My home now, outside
With the crickets
A candle dancing to a
whisper of breeze
Sweet citronella filling the
warmest October air
Keeping mosquitoes beyond
arm’s length
Boozy cheers travel the
valley, reach my ears
A ten person party for sure
I can only imagine
Ten bodies
Ten lips moving, ten heads
nodding, ten shabby
haircuts no doubt,
Conversing,
Maybe hugging.
Shit.
I’m content to listen from
a distance
I’m not alone, I have crickets
for company
I’ve never felt
So
Extro-
verted
