Melbourne is my home. It is a city of many faces with a big personality. It is edgy, yet sophisticated. Always changing, but familiar. The city has abundant excellent restaurants and bars, spoiling Melburnians with choice. Lively laneways are frequented by citizens and visitors from a myriad of diverse backgrounds. Melbourne is dramatic and beautifully imperfect.
It is the city my heart yearned for above all others during our lockdown. My desire to walk the streets, enjoy the atmosphere and be in the intimate spaces of the city that I love was visceral. Becoming reacquainted with my city, our city, has been inspiring.
Melbourne in winter is cold, often wet, sometimes sunny and never predictable. The drama of the weather adds to the mood. There is always something interesting to do, something unexpected to see and, more importantly, something excellent to eat.
