Reflections on clouds and whether they can form a longer-term relationship

When we were young we were
An Excellent Match
Everyone said so
Told us so
We told us so
Common interests, you know, the usual things: sense of humour, music
Against the death penalty
Etc.

So on the basis of this we agreed, after
Many Years Considering
To spend our lives together
And had
An Excellent Wedding
Everyone said so
Told us so
We held on to that, I think, for a while

Pick out your cloud, I vowed
And then bound
Blurred
Not by those words
But the rain
That you blamed
Those sunbeams
That you claimed
As your worth
In the end
We burned.

And now I get it, although
I’m Still Not Sure
Is it one big love per seven to ten years.
Aligned with the renewal of cells?
Or can clouds come to some longer term arrangement?
