Planets turning and circling
They watch on, bearing witness
But helpless, locked into their own trajectory
Slave to a destiny already prescribed
Earth alone has the added weight
From sadness, gloom, despair
A humanity and all its living kin drowned by a quantity of material
The discarded once desired
Borne of wanting, cast aside with waned attention
Now piled high on land, spread wide in seas
Manifestation of curiosity, slipped into the realm of continuous consumption
Too much of everything now
Philosophy, Theology – their neat theories in tidy type struggling to keep up, to explain
But in the end just adding more layers with which to wrestle.
