The narrator made this book come alive for me. Her style was easy and at times meditative. The whole book was like a meditation. The story wove itself through me and was indeed like a service of worship as the name suggested. As I sat and listened each day it presented a theme or reading for me to ponder. Each story within the story was a prayer to a life dedicated to finding one’s path.
More of a memoir than a novel, we follow the protagonist as she leaves city life to live in a monastic community on the high plains of NE Victoria. Three uncomfortable interruptions bring her to her knees as she ponders deep questions about life, goodness, forgiveness and grief. Truly memorable, I could not miss a word of this book; it sank into my bones.
